The Rampage™ rod is designed to be a workhorse for charter boats or anglers that need durability in a variety of fishing situations. Constructed with a tubular glass blank for extra strength, the Rampage also features a solid glass tip that helps keep the rod tip from breaking, even when high sticked. A heavy duty Pac- Bay® reel seat ensures a secure lock on the reel foot, eliminating flex while under heavy load. Each rod features guides built with heavy duty stainless steel frames and aluminum oxide inserts that are perfect for both mono and braided lines. The soft yet durable rubber gimbal is used on select models providing the same function as a traditional metal gimbal without the worries of scratching or cracking the gel coat on your boat. Rubber gimbals also help ease the pain that traditional metal gimbals can put on your body while fighting a fish. EVA Torque™ grips are contoured to fit your hand perfectly and eliminate the rod from twisting while under heavy load.

Got the 30-80 Heavy model with the top and bottom rollers to pair with the two-speed Squall 16vs for trolling in Southern California. The rod is well matched to the reel and it's a combo I feel confident in for fish up to 150lbs.
Original delivery was an empty tube (rod fell out during transit due to a missing end cap) - I contacted Penn customer support with my order # and a picture of the packaging and they sent out a replacement that arrived 4 days later. I really appreciated the excellent customer service, thanks Penn!

No one seems to make a rod anymore that is somewhere between a pool stick and a buggy whip. I'm trying to find the right rods that fall somewhere in between without spending $200.00 plus. This rod has a handle that you could use to beat sharks into submission. I'm fishing the great lakes, not the great barrier reef. Why can't companies look to the customers in a region and build (import) a rod for the customers they serve?
