The PENN Spinfisher VI features IPX5 sealing so whether it gets hit with a wave, or you let it ride in the spray all the way home, you don't have to worry about saltwater getting into the gearbox or drag system. Our HT-100 drag washers are housed in a fully sealed spool to give the stopping power needed for big saltwater fish. A Full Metal Body and sideplate keep the CNC Gear System in precise alignment under heavy loads. Available in standard, Live Liner, Long Cast and bail-less models.

I bought about 3 weeks ago had the 6500 and want to switch them to my 13 with heavy 9500SS Spinfisher and but the 5500 long cast on my 11 custom I mad last year

Got it at the first of spring for a couple surf poles I made, and always us Penn
Great for easy casting long distance reel, hold a lot of Brad, and overall feels great
Waiting on 2 more for my old 13 custom rods , with the heavier 9500ss

The Spinfisher met all expectations. I’m casting about twice the distance as my previous reel. I have 30ld braided line on the reel with a Penn 11 ft Carnage II. Skipping lutes across the surface(Cabo killers. 2 oz) etc.

I own two of these both are 6500. I use them both on 12' rods for surf casting 2 to 4 oz plugs. The 6500 is a heavy beast but it helps to balance the long rods. The LC model really does help with casting distance but it's not a mind blowing difference. Be aware that a head or side wind will pull extra line vs a standard spinning reel. Nonissue if you are paying attention and watching the line and bait. I also think the spool moving slower front to rear makes it feel a bit more smooth and balanced when retrieving baits fast. I've also had no issues with saltwater intrusion. Highly recommend if you are looking to improve your surf casting. Absolutely love this reel!!!

Nice casting into surf off of Assateague SP.
I added 15 yards to my normal casts.
I will be happy if the reel lasts as long as my master...
