I bought the pursuit combo at Walmart was marked down 50% because of some superficial scratches and I couldn’t pass that up. Brought it out to fish on Father’s Day morning with my son and wasn’t long till I got hit by something big that started taking line so I tightened up that drag a bit and started pulling back. This fight lasted about 10 minutes or so until he started to give. By the time I got him up to the boat my son saw this wasn’t going to fit in our net so I reached in and grabbed him up. Almost 23lbs 36” and this this reel pulled it in like a champ couldn’t be happier with this setup and now I just have to get the boy one.

Calidad de construcción:

Suavidad de giro:

I don’t know if Im one of the lucky ones because mine has the power knob not the one shown but so far I have caught pinfish, lizardfish, and toadfish with no problem at all. This is my first rod since I was 8 (been 14 years) and I absolutely love it. I have the 3000’s combo version and it’s everything I wanted from it. Definitely would love to know where to go from here PENN.

The drag was smooth and released at jyst the right time, each time they ran and dig deep. The reel is paired with a 7ft Ugly Stick Bigwater rod. Its a winning combo. The reel is loaded with 30lb braid with a 30lb flourocarbon topshot leader.
I landed 3 stripers on that trip, all with the "Ugly Penn" combo. Two 27in under slots and the big overslot 35in/29lb monster (see pics).

excellent for the lower end of penn reels. as a fishing guide my clients drop in saltwater or on ground and they are bullet proof. round handle is awesome.
