Bought two Penn warfares. Don’t use for about 1 year, sat on a shelf.
Began using recently in Mexico on a sailing trip and my fishing adventure turned into a non fishing adventure.
Because the drag not working properly it caused multiple problems with my line and lost every lure as a result.
I have spent more time trying to repair and figure out the problem(s) than fishing.
I’ve lost so much money on this trip because Penn failed me.
No a happy customer.

I bought the PENN Warfare WAR15LWLH brand new and was disappointed right out of the box. The bait clicker switch is stuck in the clicker mode and won’t release, even before spooling or using the reel. I’ve trusted PENN for years for my saltwater gear, but this quality issue makes me seriously question buying their products going forward.

So I got it and I was having mixed feelings about it. When I first brought it out to the river and casted it (by pulling the lever to free spool) the handle swung and closed the spool leading to me losing a 20 dollar catfish rig. Aswell as the drag failing on me and causing me to lose a potential pb blue.
So no I am not a happy customer.
P.s. : please make like a counterbalanced dual power knob option because I have been searching the web for aftermarket custom handle grips, and came up with 0 to no options as it is very very rare to find a aftermarket custom handle and grip. My Abu Garcia Ambassadeur performed better and I got it for 60 dollars. Please fix your reel Penn.

Bought a Penn 20lw and seem to be having issues, like I reel it in but the handle just spins no line comes in then I adjust the drag slightly and the it starts clicking and retrieves the line, reduce drag and then nothing like what the heck is going on? I’m using for down rigger never come across a reel like this before can’t really use, is this how it works or is it broken?

The reel should retrieve line smoothly when it's properly set up, so we'd like to help determine whether it's a drag setting issue or if the reel needs to be inspected.

i bought one of these reels to replace a old reel,boy did i make the right choose it will haul in a 35 flat head with no worrys, will be buying more.
