The Slammer® IV Spinning Reel is packed with more features than ever before. Building off of our proven IPX6 sealed body and spool, we redesigned our Slammer® drag system to not only be better sealed, but also offer a wider range of usable drag, all while being bearing supported for extra smoothness. Adding our all brass CNC gear technology, 8+1 stainless steel bearing system and Hydrophobic Line Roller Bearing has made the Slammer® IV the ultimate workhorse reel. Key differences for the 2500 are listed in the feature bullets.

    Slammed the Golden Dorado

We battle-tested the Slammer on these tough fighting fish in Argentina. It had smooth drag even when locked down and stayed smooth after the trip!

    High speed 6500

I have been using this reel for high

Speed vertical jigging for tuna. Is very smooth and comfortable and the drag has performed very well.

    Workhorse!

I use my 2500 Slammer IV reels on my light tackle charters for everything the NYC area has to offer. Striped bass, fluke, bluefish, weakfish, false albacore, and tautog, all handled with ease. Smooth drag, comfortable power knob, and rock solid reliability. I’m a big fan. Thank you Penn 👍🎣

    Best reels on the market

I own 8 penn slammer ivs from 3500s, 6500s, and 8500s and they have been nothing short of my favorite spinning reels I’ve ever owned. I run charters full time and my clients love fishing with them from striped bass on the smaller reels, yellowfins on the 6500s, to giant bluefins on the 8500s. Have not had any bad experiences even with use and abuse day in and day out!

    So good I'm downsizing

Over the last few decades it's been amazing to watch the quality of all Penn products but especially their spinning reels. I bought my first Slammer reel back in 2005 and it's still going strong. Yes, I take great care of my gear but it's more a testimate to the qualty of the product. Recently I have started buying 3500 and 2500 series reels for my inshore and nearshore fishing rods becasue the reel's drag is just so smooth and steady. With 30lb braid to 20lb floro leader I'm only fishing about 7-8 lbs of drag and these small reels function flawlessly under all cicumstances. The 2500 I have on two rods caught stripers up to 46" this summer and numberous false albacore and bluefish. And going with lighter set-ups lets me enjoy the fight more without having it last too long and hurt the fish. I don't think there is a better reel for the price.
