I recently sent my Penn International reel in for repair. The reel was already out of warranty, and I fully expected to pay whatever it cost to have it repaired.

About a week after sending it in, I called Penn to make sure they had received everything they needed. They confirmed they had it and told me I should hear back from them in about two weeks. I thanked them and figured I would receive an estimate before any work was done.

Instead, a short time later, a package showed up on my doorstep.

To my surprise, Penn had completely repaired the reel. It appeared they had done quite a bit of work to it, and they even re-spooled it with new line. I wasn't expecting that level of service at all, especially on a reel that was out of warranty.

I have owned and used a lot of fishing equipment over the years, and service like this deserves to be recognized. Penn went above and beyond what I expected, and they have earned my loyalty as a customer.

From now on, when I'm purchasing fishing reels and equipment, Penn will be the first brand I look at.
