There is an issue reported from many users of this product. What happens is the spool cones don’t spin with the line spool and the tension constantly loosens making for a frustrating effort to keep retightening the spooler. I solved the problem with the addition of a small 5/16 flat washer. First thing is to throw away the carbon drag washers they just prevent the proper operation. Now slide one cone onto the side with the spring then slide the line to be used on the cone, next slide the second cone toward the spool. After the second cone put on the 5/16 flat washer then the Penn black steel washer then the Penn plastic washer and finally the threaded locking knob. What happens now is the cones will spin with the line spool no matter how tight the tension is and the preset tension remains constant without loosening.
