Rated 5 out of 5 by Tom fisherman from Great value! Great rod for a great price. I wanted a one piece ocean rod to use for lake catfish and carp and this rod is just right. Great quality too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Deployed Soldier from While Deployed overseas... I purchased a PENN Mariner with a reel while deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba with the Army. It lasted less than 4 months and it was properly cared for. Being it was the best option here on base (we only had 2) this one and an ugly stick, I reached out to PENN in hopes of getting it replaced. They actually came back to me and asked for $20, the rod is listed for $27. But to give them the benefit of doubt I asked if they wanted to reconsider the $20 fee and they responded with please pay $10. I am surprised by the lack of customer service concerning this matter, especially over just $10. I knew it was not a great rod when I purchased it form the Base Exchange, however guys you should at least stand by your product, especially when you are selling it to Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Bnix from Very good value I have used these rods on three trips and have had no failures. I have the 6000 Battle 2s on them and they work great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Akaviator from A super fun Halibut rod I bought mine for saltwater fishing in Alaska. I fish the “shallower” waters, generally 50-150 feet deep. Biggest fish yet with this rod was a 50 lb. halibut and it was a BLAST fighting it! The rod is so light weight for its capabilities, I’m running 65 lb braid on it. Am buying a couple more. IMO huge value in a great rod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RAbbott from Mariner II Purchased 2 of the Mariner II boat rods for my Penn reels as replacements for two well worn rods. Fit and finish seems good. Rods are light and have the right action for fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. I wish the reel lock down was more substantial.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Harvey23 from Thought it would be better First of all the only reels I buy is Penn they are the best in my opinion. I thought the rods would be similar quality but I was wrong I used this rod 3 times and never caught a fish with it. The insert on the rod tip keeps coming out. I'm writing this review hoping Penn can make it right.
