I bought this combo to fish on vacation in NC. It was wonderful and helped me catch over 50 fish! Perfect stiffness on the rod. The only thing I didn't like is that the reel is loud. Makes a lot of clicking noises with mono.. it may not be so loud with braid. Overall though.. very happy with the product and the value!

I purchased this combo for Striper and Catfishing on fresh water lakes and rivers. Also for fishing Redfish in saltwater. Needed something with backbone since a lot of fish tend to head to snags and such, and this rod has backbone to spare! Spooled with 17 lb line I should be able to control most anything I come across. Smooth action with the reel is amazing. Bought this to replace an old Penn reel I bought back in 1983 that recently totally broke down.

This is my first fishing rod that I’ve spent more than $50 on and I absolutely love it. I am not an everyday fisherman like most, and just getting into this hobby. I have to say so far this is the best purchase so far.
