PENN Battle II Combo is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 201.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected I bought the battle 11 8000 10' combo for surf fishing. I wasn't expecting much from the rod since it really was only like an extra $20 from the cost of the reel and I love the prevail rods so I figured itd be good to have a spare just in case. I did fish with the rod a few times while having an eye repaired on my prevail and it was pretty good rod. It casted 4oz very nice and had great sensitivity yet a strong backbone for pulling hard. The reel doesn't really need a review. They are great with no problems and still a year later just as smooth as the day I bought it. of coarse the paint doesn't like to stick to it i guess but that is just cosmetic and I dont care about that..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big or Small, Fresh or Salt. Battle does it ALL! A friend of mine suggested that I should buy a BattleII 3000 combo when I decided to start fishing in the gulf. I have been a baitcaster person all of my life and never thought I would be a spinning reel guy. Then I bought the Battle II Combo and changed my mind forever! The ease of cast, the strong drag is perfect for an inshore fisherman that loves to freshwater fish as well! Whether your throwing braid, mono, or flouro the battle cast it with ease! I used this setup to catch from small panfish, and largemouth bass, to trout, Mahi and bull Reds! If you're any level of angler and looking for the most versatile reel on the market and want to keep the wife happy by not breaking the bank..Go get yourself a Penn BattleII Combo and keep the lines tight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sitting on the bottom First off I love my pen battle ll 5000. It has worked flawlessly. However during a trip to the skyway pier in Tampa I literally caught a penn battle ll 7000. It had been on the bottom for sometime, covered in barnacles. However after cleaning it thoroughly and regreasing and oiling it is working again without a snag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The name "Battle" says it all!! I have fished the entire state of Florida with my Battle combos & I'll never need to look at the competitors. The quality & reliability of the Penn Battle combos, makes it both affordable and easy to maintain. I could pay more but I don't need to, the Battles have it all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Reel I have a Battle II 2500 reel and fish the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon from my kayak and wading extensively. It is fantastic. I have had some problems with the weight a rod and reel on my wrists as I have gotten older and this setup is perfect. I have caught large reds and snook with it all the way down to small trout and ladyfish. I couldn't be happier with the setup. I have been doing some ocean fishing lately and feel it may be a little small for that side of things, but an upgrade to a slightly larger reel may be in my future soon if I keep up with the ocean fishing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beginner fishermen, great results I bought this a year ago when i moved to Miami. At the time I could barely tie a knot. Completely new to fishing. It has been amazing . I use it for shore, bridge, surf, fresh and reef fishing. It is so wasy to use. I love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Penn for the non costal fisherman!! I purchased my Penn Battle 2 combo thinking that it would have a black foam handle like in the photo in the online catalog. When it arrived with a cork handle I was disappointed. I prefer foam. I made a call to the # on the packing list they said that this was the way that it is I could return it if I wanted to. I still like the combo so I am keeping it. I wish the catalog would accurately show what you are getting. The reel and rod are of great construction and quality and I look forward to many years of great service from them. I have other Penn products dating back many years and they are all great. I will buy additional Penn combo rod and reels but I will need to check on the accuracy of the web site before I buy. P.S. You should have the tackle box offer in your online store. Stuck inland Boston Whaler owner

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Reel is tight Second PENN Battle II I have bought and both reel became very tight after one use. Blame the first one on me. I did not rinse the saltwater off reel as I should have. However, I did take it apart and clean it out and re-lubed everything with PENN cleaner and lube. Still very tight. I figured that I would try a second one and after one use and proper cleaning/rinsing of reel after use, it became very tight also. I will never purchase another PENN Battle II again and would suggest you spend the extra money on their other products. I am very satisfied with the Pursuits that I have purchased. Very disappointed in the Battles.
