Great fighting beast
Well, here in Canada, Montreal noone sells the 12" spinning rod... Had an 11" casting one for my spinning reel... Flapping line was just unbearable... Upgraded to 12"spinning... Got a 7500ssv spinfisher... And now there's no fish i can't handle... Casting 10oz sinkers always catches eyes and ahs of others, but such ease to do so with 12" prevail... Amazing...
The rod i got, has some issues... First, The tip top ring is missing a small piece of metal, as if it chipped off before the coating process... Second, the butt section of the top piece had some irregularities, and being afraid of cracks, i sanded maybe .5 mill off it... Now it looks perfect.

2 prevail fishing rods broked in the same segment
In March of the year 2016 I bought my first fishing rod Prevail of 10 feet, worked perfectly, in November of that same year it broke up catching of a fish of 14 pounds. In December of 2016 I acquire a similar fishing rod and yesterday, throwing a lure of 2.5 ounces the fishing rod is part in the same point as the previous one. I have no explanation that Prevail fishing rod lasts less than a year. In Colombia there is no Penn guarantee center.

Horrible Guides
Purchased this rod last year and used it twice, and rod performed excellent both times. Got the rod off rack for a trip this year and one of the metal guides was completely rusted through even after thoroughly cleaning before storage, and won't hold inner guide ring rendering the rod useless. For price of this rod, I expected it to last more than just two trips to the sand.

Awesome rod
Great quality at a reasonable price I have this rod paired with a penn feirce 7000 and it's like they were made for each other the rod is sturdy and very easy to put together and take apart in a hurry the rubberized grips above and below the reel seat work really well and add a lot of extra quality to this rod and the tip of the rod has the perfect softness to it for great casting distance and to see the fish activitie when your line is out in the surf. This is an overall great product 10/10 keep it up penn!

Handles abuse
First off I’ll say this is going to be one of multiple reviews I’m doing, I own four rods in three lengths and will do a separate review on each.
I bought the 12 foot spinning model from Academy last fall and have used it here in Florida for black tip Fishing since. It’s held up very well despite the abuse I put it through. Since it only cost me about $75 I treat it as fairly disposable and do things with it I wouldn’t normally do with more expensive rods. I fished this rod for sharks most of the winter, just setting it in the back of the truck and driving out to the coast. Normally I’m using it paired to an 8500 spinfisher or BG 8000 throwing an 8 ounce spider weight with a half a pound of cut bait on 8 foot leaders and I can toss them 30 or 40 yards without issue. When the water is very rough I throw halved Bonito and whole Jack Crevalle up to 1 pound or more with 18 oz 3/32” stainless steel leg surf weights. Especially after they sit a while they dig in very well and I’m extremely surprised I haven’t snapped this blank trying to break them loose. This specific rod has landed at least a dozen blacktip sharks over 6 feet and a couple dozen in the 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 foot range and a friend used it to catch a 6‘5“ very pregnant female black tip that would’ve easily beat the Florida State record. The action is quite conducive to my casting style and it’s held up very well for a graphite blank. Towards the end of the casting season the tip eyelet ring blew out on a cast, that’s the only reason my review isn’t five stars. About a week before I had bought my second 12’ model so I just haven’t bothered fixing the first rod yet. I’m very impressed with its performance for the price. If this was a couple hundred dollar rod I would be upset but considering how much I have abused it and what it’s MSRP is I think this is a very good product, especially for a slightly lighter fishing then I do.

Light and good for casting and jigging
Had this for 2 years caught many flounder and rockfish jigging bucktails on the jetty. Light but it has a nice backbone so you can fish for hours and not get tired but still have the backbone to get a big rockfish. Mine has a battle II 5000 with 30lb braid works great! Although I'm only 15 I've been fishing all of my life and I've worked at a local bait and tackle shop for a year so I know more about fishing than the average jo

Broken eye
Brand new 10' Prevail fell apart. I paid $600. for boat rental to fish some back islands. I baited it, and on my first cast I see the inner ring of the eye sliding ony line. The eye was cracked. FIRST CAST!!! I lost the receipt, not that I thought I would be returning it. I now have a long practice guild for golf.

Penn Prevail 12ft
I was skeptical at first because I’m a small guy but after casting out the first time I was amazed of how easy it is to control this rod. I’m very happy with my purchase and will recommend to anyone.
