Rated 5 out of 5 by DustyC84 from Best rod I’ve ever owned I own 2 of these rods in different powers. I’ve caught everything from snook, redfish, tarpon, snapper and kingfish on these rods. Tons of backbone and super comfortable grip. I love the reel seat on these too. Was out snapper fishing last night and a friend kept getting pulled down and broke off by big red snapper. I handed him my medheavy carnage ll with a slammer lll 5500 and he pulled a 28lb red snapper on his first drop. Needless to say he’s planning on purchasing the same rig.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Chesapeake Hunter from One all be all rod This is my first Penn rod and what an excellent rod to purchase. This rod is a one all be all rod bottom fishing, trolling, jigging soft plastics, eels, cut bait, spoons, jigging diamond, poppers, bucktails, and speck rigs I go fishing for striped bass, bluefish, and go out into the ocean for whatever wants to bite. The gimbal is nice and has the spiderwire braid rating not the mono rating. The gimbal cap locks and won't fall off randomly on the boat or pier and lose it. The rear grip is shaved so it won't grab your shirt. I love the fore grip with it being textured and it locks in your fingers. One of the main reasons why I bought this rod in the reel seat, what a awesome reel seat. Great thinking Penn with the reel size rating. The SLS makes this rod soooo thin like a jigging rod but, its a boat rod. Fuji k line guides are great This a great rod for the price a good bang for the buck. Penn spent their time on this rod good job Penn (I use a Penn Battle II 6000 with 50 or 30 lbs spiderwire braid.) I will only buy Penn now

Rated 5 out of 5 by Deejay59 from These are great fishing rods! I have 3 carnage II road and my most recently I paired with a Penn slammer III 8500HS. I use this primarily offshore. Sometimes while trolling, we sed a lot of birds usually indicating a bait ball pushed to the surface by tuna or mahi. I cast this rig with a big spoon hopefully right over the baitfish and with the high speed reel, rip it thru the feeding school. Fish on and this reel, combo just manhandled whatever is feeding in the baitfish. Last time it was a 37lb blackfin tuna! Easily brought it to the boat, gaffed and bagged! Highly recommend this rod for anything especially a fish that wants a good fight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by PWPhoto from Absolutely LOVE this rod! I purchased this rod in the 7' MH 4080 last fall for an offshore trip. I paired it with the Slammer III 6500 reel. What a combo. I love the grips on the forearm. The finger slots allow you to grip the rod much easier to allow you to put more energy in pulling in your fish and less worry about losing your grip. The reel sizing on the rod also makes it easy to know what reel size to pair it with. The rod has great action and sensitivity. It is also much lighter yet stronger than most other rods in its size. It is actually about the same diameter as my Shimano Terez H 6'6" 50-150 casting rod. Now, I struggle when going fishing as to whether I use this setup or my Shimano Terez and Avet conventional reel setup. Most of the time, this is the one I use most. For the price, this is the best combo I have for what I use it for, mainly saltwater and offshore fishing. I plan to buy another setup just like this one very soon as well as the 7' H 50-100 version to put a Slammer III 7500 reel on so I can go heavier if I need or want to. GREAT job on this rod Penn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Toto from What A PURCHASE!!!!! I bought this rod over the summer and it was the best buy I made all summer, I also bought a boat so that's saying a lot. I love this rod, it is light and powerful, the backbone on this rod is in a class of its own. I am a huge PENN supporter, all my rods and reels are PENN. But, this rod takes the cake. My next purchase is the Penn Clash to match with this rod for the spring, I cant wait to use it for big bass fishing!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Al in Tex from Surprisingly light Bought My Carnage II boat rod (Heavy) for a future trip. Haven't used it but seems to pair up nice with my Slammer III 10500 reel. Can't wait! Rod seems light or thin for the weight rating but I've done enough research to convince me that it will hold up. I'll find out soon enough. If this one holds up, it's gonna be Penn rods for me from now on! Thank you for the awesome service and super fast shipping! If I can, I'll add an update to this later. And photos.
