Rated 2 out of 5 by Fendermaster from GREAT ROD, TERRIBLE GUIDES! Rod is nice. Cast well, and has nice balance. Line guides are just terrible. They are very fragile. Had one break the third time out. Penn says it is not covered under warranty. They would be glad to sell me a new one though. Read the reviews and do a little research before you buy. I am not the only one with this problem. Very disappointing. I expected more for a company of this stature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by so ho from great rod can't beat the price very light easy to casts a mile. i have the 10ft paired with daiwa mag st for bay fishing. i'm impressed with how affordable this rod is. guides don't break for no reason. ceramic guides break easily when its not cared for bottom line.

Rated 1 out of 5 by AAgundes from Poor line guides These pole are horrible. Do not buy them. The Prevail has very inferior line guides.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kurto from Punches above its weight I bought my first penn prevail, the 15-24kg overhead surf casting model nearly two years ago and it has done nothing but impress ever since. Casts big leads just as far as the $500+ custom rods my mates use and loads up really well on big fish, she has landed some big sharks and mackerel in her time and always comes back for more

Rated 4 out of 5 by dustin young from great for cats I fish with these rods in ohio and all i can say is dont let this rod fool its got great backbone and feel to it .......really think that the reel should set back more towards the rear ...its sets @ 27" from the one i got ......strongly feel it should be a round the 18 to 20 ....but still by far they a great rods for big shovels and blues

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mike Chang from Amazing I've had the penn prevail surfcasting rod [9ft] for quite awhile and whew, i've got to say, what an amazing rod. Every year i go striper/hybrid fishing and boy this rod can take a beating! I got a least twice a week for about 4months and limit out every time. It gives me the distance i need when i throw and it has a backbone to fight the big fish! I love it! I highly recommend it to everyone!

Rated 5 out of 5 by mk2000 from Great Rod!! I bought this model rod about 2 years ago, and paired it with the Penn Battle II 6000, and it has been great! It casts far, holds up to fish of all kinds, and I only had to have one of the line guide rings replaced because I accidentally got it stuck in a tree, but that wasn't the rod's fault. I highly recommend this rod to anyone, as it is a great rod for fisherman, new or old.
